What our customers say...

I was very impressed with the next day delivery but can,t really write two sentences about a couple of shaver spares. Best wishes, Donald.

Thank you for your very prompt despatch of my recent order for a Braun Synchron Plus Shaver foil, much appreciated – especially when the order was placed so close to the festive season and all the possible delays that might have interfered with it’s arrival. Also appreciate your follow up e-mail regarding customer satisfaction, good to know that courtesy matters and that it is so clearly part of your efficient business service. Some time ago I foolishly bought the enclosed Braun shaver parts in readiness for the day when I needed to fit replacements for my now 20 plus year old Braun shaver. Not until I came to fit them did I realise that I’d bought the wrong ones for the model 5381. I suspect that you will almost certainly find a home for them with some customer who will probably be as grateful as I was for your spares availability. Best wishes and a Happy New Year to all at Electrospares.

Which Shaver Should I Buy? The Electric Shaver Review.

Which Shaver Should I Buy? The Electric Shaver Review.

Having just read the latest, “WHICH” review on the very latest rechargeable electric shaver models available November 2011, It was not surprising to see each of the four main manufactures Braun, Philips, Remington and Panasonic all had at least one model featured in their “Best Buy” category with a price range from £70 up to £300.

The way that Which? test all the different models is to issue them out to their testers who will use them for a period of two weeks. The criteria are then scored on the following:-

  • How well and comfortable was the shaver, closeness of the shaver, how close the shaver would shave based on chin, neck, and face area, comfort of the shave, noise of shaver, charge time and how many shaves per full charge.
  • If the Electric rechargeable shaver was easy to clean (manual and self cleaning docking station)
  • The sharpness of the beard / side burns trimmer.
  • Overall ease of use.

When selecting a new Electric shaver, the first question to ask yourself is, do you go for rotary or foil based models. Quite simply it is personal choice. The foil shaver models have a perforated thin metal cover with a cutting blade that oscillates at high speed from left to right just below the foil removing hair follicles that poke up into the foil. Rotary on the other hand work in the same way but the cutting blade spins in a continuous direction. The consensus of opinion say there is no overall advantage to either methods and it really is down to personal choice.

The price to pay depends entirely on what you require, for the shave itself an electric shaver priced at £50 can shave as well as the same manufactures top of the range shaver model prices at £300. The differences being as you go up through the models, just like cars you get more and more features. An electric rechargeable shaver at £300 will normally have a self cleaning docking pod, colours lights or an LCD readout display; will charge up quickly and last longer between recharges, normally a chrome exterior and flashy packaging.

Looking at the overall scored results from the Which report, the range was 43 points for the lowest up to 77 points being the highest score. In the top ten, two models cost under £100 and in the bottom five there was four models under £100. This may suggest spending a little more on your shaver may give better results long term. In the top ten best buys, Philips had the most models followed by Remington, Panasonic and Braun. Out of nineteen models reviewed ten had foil type shaving and nine rotary shaving.
