OK here come the answer the area of a full size football pitch this is why your shaver foil and shaver cutter blade will become worn and blunt after this period of time. At shaver-spares we do recommend changing both parts at the same time primarily because the two parts are ground on the same machine to work in perfect harmony and by changing just one will not have the same effect.

The foil deals with the smooth movement across the skin and although foils wear down over time they also become less rigid and lose flexibility over time and could cause the cutter to  either not sit perfectly under the foil or only cut smoothly at certain points.

Sometimes we get asked would it not be better just to replace the electric shaver, well that does depend on what price was originally paid however once replacement foil and cutter have been fitted the shaver should feel and shave as well as it did the day it was purchased.
