Panasonic Electric Shavers and Spare Parts
Panasonic Shavers
Since the dawn of man, certain men have wanted to rid their faces of facial hair for a variety of reasons, some thought it was unsightly, others didn’t like the feel of it, while others maintained a clean shave for religious or work purposes. For whatever reason, a clean shave requires an excellent shaver. There are many companies that produce electric shavers, but only a few companies earn the title of producing a shaver that provides an exceptionally smooth and close shave – one of those companies is the Panasonic Corporation. Panasonic has a very long and rich history, and their current product line features everything from electric shavers to bicycles, though we will just focus on the shavers for this particular article.
History of Panasonic
The Panasonic Corporation was founded in 1918 by Konosuke Matsushita and made their money by selling duplex lamp sockets. By 1927, the company started producing bicycle lamps under the brand National. During WWII, the company was operating factories throughout Japan and Asia, producing materials for the war, particularly electrical components, motors and light fixtures. The company was partially destroyed during the end of WWII but regrouped after the war and continued right where they left off. The company continued to supply post-war Japan with radios, bicycles and other appliances. Matsushita’s brother in law formed the company Sanyo after the war, which would eventually become a very large competitor to Panasonic.
From 1945 to the 1980s, a major portion of Panasonic’s income came from their production of road, touring, and mountain style bicycles. These bicycles were sold both in Japan and other parts of the world, such as the United States and Europe. Despite pressure from competitors, Panasonic enacted a policy that all bicycles would be manufactured with the highest quality, even if it affected the bottom line. Panasonic bicycles soon established a reputation for having great quality and being virtually indestructible. The tires were made from thicker treads and had higher thread counts when compared to the competition. However, by 1985, the competition had finally caught up and Panasonic slowly but steadily ceased production of the bicycle line. By 1989, Panasonic ceased all production of bicycles because it was their lowest profit item in the warehouse.
Panasonic began producing consumer electronics in 1961. The owner and CEO travelled to the United States to meet with American dealers and producers. Panasonic began producing television sets to be sold in the United States and to parts of Europe by 1979. In addition to television sets, Panasonic also sold hi-fidelity radios, short wave radios, and marine radio direction finders which are often used by fishermen to help map out large lakes. The company also branched out into the home appliance market by producing rice cookers that are used by large amounts of the Asian population.
Panasonic continued to improve their technology and research into the 1980s. They began producing electric shavers at this time and also began production on Compact Discs and CDs. Their most famous product to date came out at this time: the SL-1200 record player, which was known world-wide for its precision, high performance and durability. In 2004, Panasonic was selected by Toyota to provide them with batteries for their Prius line of cars. On November 3rd, 2008 Panasonic merged with Sanyo to become the largest corporation in Japan and one of the world’s largest corporations.
Shaver Features
Panasonic has been manufacturing electric rechargeable shavers for over fifty years, and has perfected the manufacturing process to produce some of the best and highest quality shavers in the world. Below are some of the common features that you will see on just about every Panasonic model:
- Adjustable pivoting head – This pivoting head system follows every contour of your face to allow for a very close shave with maximum comfort that leaves you with a smooth, clean shave.
- Sharp blades – Panasonic has utilized nanotechnology to create the sharpest blades in existence. The blade is angled at just thirty degrees, which increases sharpness and enables a whole new world of smooth. Other shavers have blades that are angled anywhere from forty-five to ninety degrees, which doesn’t guarantee a smooth shave.
- Fastest shaver –Panasonic shavers are designed to run at near astronomical speeds – in excess of 13000 RPM. These shavers are the fastest in the world and are designed to power through even the thickest and most courses of beards.
- Turbo cleaning mode – For those extra thick patches of hair, the motor will kick into overdrive and will run at 17,000 RPM. While doing this, the shaver will also slow down the blade movement to save on the shaver itself. This removes excess build up of residue on the blades, leaving it clean and fresh and available to perform another close shave.
- Wet/dry modes – The shaver is able to be used in both wet and dry environments. This means you can unplug it and take it anywhere, even fully underwater, such as in the shower or the bath. This makes it one of the most convenient shavers on the market.
- Triple blade system – With three floating blades all moving at over 13,000 RPM, you are guaranteed to get the closest shave of your live with the Panasonic shavers.
- Centre slit blade – The centre slit blade is in addition to the three blades that are running at 13,000 RPM. The centre slit blade is designed to remove long and thick hairs that the other blades may miss.
- Pop-up trimmer – Use this trimmer for removing annoying ear and nose hair. Also can be used to quickly touch up your sideburns or moustache. The trimmer is easy to activate and even easier to use.
- Quick charging – many shavers today feature batteries that only last minutes but take hours to charge. Panasonic shavers are the exact opposite: on a full charge they can last hours and you can perform a quick charge in five minutes to provide enough power for one clean, accurate shaver. Full charging only takes an hour compared to some of the competition that takes three to four hours.
